All rights reserved. https://www.sortedsolution.com · hello@sortedsol.com -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- THE SHORT VERSION (for convenience only; the full terms below control) - Markdown Reader, the viewer, is free for personal and commercial use on as many computers as you like. - Markdown Pro unlocks editing, Pro exports and the built-in terminal. A Pro license is for one person, costs a one-time fee, and works on up to 5 of that person's devices across Mac, Windows and Linux. - You can try Markdown Pro free for 14 days, once. - Don't share your license key, redistribute the app, or work around the licensing. - The app checks for updates and, when you activate Pro, verifies your key. It never sends your documents anywhere. - The software comes without warranties, to the extent the law allows. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. WHO THIS AGREEMENT IS WITH This End User License Agreement ("Agreement") is between you and Sorted Solution LLC ("Sorted Solution", "we", "us"). "You" means the individual who installs or uses the Software, or, if you accept this Agreement on behalf of an organization, that organization and its authorized users. By installing or using the Software you agree to this Agreement. If you don't agree, don't install or use the Software. 2. DEFINITIONS "Software" means the Markdown Reader application for macOS, Windows and Linux, including its Quick Look extension, updates we provide, and its documentation. "Free Edition" means the Software's viewing features, usable without a License Key. "Pro Features" means the features we identify as part of Markdown Pro, which currently include editing, Split view, formatting tools, templates, branded PDF, HTML and Word export, email sharing and the built-in terminal. "License Key" means the key we or our reseller issue to you when you buy Markdown Pro. "Device" means a single computer, or a single installation of an operating system on a computer (including a virtual machine), on which the Software is activated. 3. FREE EDITION LICENSE Subject to this Agreement, we grant you a free, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the Free Edition on any number of Devices, for personal or commercial purposes. 4. MARKDOWN PRO LICENSE 4.1 Grant. When you buy Markdown Pro and receive a License Key, we grant you a perpetual (subject to Section 11), non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Pro Features on up to five (5) Devices that you personally use, on any supported operating system. 4.2 One person per license. Each License Key is for one named individual. An organization must buy one License Key for each person who uses the Pro Features. A person may not share a License Key with, or let it be used by, anyone else. 4.3 Activation. The Software activates a License Key on each Device by contacting our licensing service. You can free up a Device slot by choosing "Remove License" on that Device. We may limit how often slots are moved to prevent abuse. 4.4 Price and payment. The price of Markdown Pro is shown at the time of purchase and is a one-time fee, not a subscription. Purchases are processed by Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the reseller and merchant of record; its terms of sale apply to the purchase transaction, including taxes and payment methods. 4.5 Refunds. Because you can try the Pro Features free for 14 days before buying (Section 5), all sales are final and we don't offer refunds, except where the law requires one. When a purchase is refunded or charged back, the License Key is revoked. 5. FREE TRIAL You may evaluate the Pro Features free of charge for fourteen (14) days, one time per person, starting when you choose "Start 14-Day Free Trial" in the Software. When the trial ends, the Pro Features stop working until you enter a valid License Key; your documents are not affected. You may not reset, extend or restart the trial by any means. 6. UPDATES AND VERSIONS 6.1 A Markdown Pro license includes all updates to the major version you bought (for example, all 2.x releases). We may offer later major versions (for example, 3.0) as a paid upgrade, which you are not required to buy. 6.2 The Software can check for, download and install updates. You can turn automatic update checks off in the Software's settings. Updates are subject to this Agreement unless they come with different terms. 6.3 We are not obliged to provide updates, support or any particular feature, and we may change or discontinue features of future versions. 7. RESTRICTIONS Except as expressly allowed by this Agreement or by law that cannot be waived, you may not: (a) sell, rent, lease, lend, sublicense or otherwise charge for the Software or a License Key, or transfer a License Key to someone else unless we approve the transfer in writing; (b) redistribute, mirror, bundle or repackage the Software — please send people to the official download page instead (distribution through package managers or repositories we publish or approve is allowed); (c) share, publish or generate License Keys, or remove, disable or work around the Software's licensing, trial or activation; (d) reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the Software, except to the extent applicable law expressly permits this despite this restriction; (e) remove or change any copyright, trademark or other notices; or (f) use the Software in violation of any law. 8. YOUR CONTENT AND THE BUILT-IN TERMINAL 8.1 Your documents and files remain yours. The Software processes them on your Device; we don't receive them. 8.2 The built-in terminal runs a command shell on your Device with your user account's permissions. Commands you run, and programs you start from it (including third-party tools such as Claude Code), act on your files and systems at your direction and are your responsibility. Keep backups. 9. THIRD-PARTY SOFTWARE AND SERVICES 9.1 The Software includes open-source components that are licensed to you under their own licenses, listed in THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.txt. Nothing in this Agreement limits your rights under those licenses. 9.2 Third-party products you use with the Software — for example Claude Code by Anthropic, email apps, word processors or PDF viewers — are provided by their own publishers under their own terms. We are not responsible for them, and Markdown Reader is not affiliated with or endorsed by their publishers unless stated. 10. PRIVACY The Software does not collect or transmit the content of your documents. It contacts our servers only to (a) check for updates, sending the app version, edition (free or Pro) and operating-system version, and (b) activate, validate or remove a License Key, sending the key and a name for the Device. Our payment provider receives the information you give it when you buy. See our privacy policy at https://www.sortedsolution.com/privacy/ for details. 11. TERMINATION This Agreement stays in effect until terminated. It ends automatically if you materially breach it, and we may revoke a License Key used in breach of it (including key sharing) or associated with a refunded or charged-back purchase. When it ends you must stop using the Pro Features and, for a breach of Section 7, uninstall the Software. Sections 7 through 15 survive termination. 12. DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTIES TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITH ALL FAULTS AND WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. SORTED SOLUTION DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES AND CONDITIONS, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ANY WARRANTY THAT THE SOFTWARE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE OR COMPATIBLE WITH OTHER SOFTWARE, OR THAT DOCUMENTS OR EXPORTS WILL BE FREE OF ERRORS. 13. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SORTED SOLUTION WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, REVENUE OR BUSINESS, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SOFTWARE OR THIS AGREEMENT, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THEIR POSSIBILITY. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR MARKDOWN PRO IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR TEN US DOLLARS (US$10). 14. CONSUMER RIGHTS Some jurisdictions don't allow certain warranty exclusions or liability limits, or give consumers rights that can't be changed by contract. Nothing in this Agreement limits those rights; where they apply, the exclusions and limits above apply only as far as the law allows. 15. GENERAL 15.1 Governing law. This Agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and the courts of King County, Washington have exclusive jurisdiction, except where consumer-protection law gives you the right to bring claims in your home courts. 15.2 Export. You will comply with applicable export and sanctions laws. 15.3 Changes. We may update this Agreement for future versions of the Software. The version that comes with a release applies to that release. 15.4 Entire agreement. This Agreement, together with the terms of sale that apply to your purchase, is the entire agreement about the Software. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our not enforcing a provision is not a waiver. 15.5 Trademarks. "Markdown Reader", "Markdown Pro" and "Sorted Solution" are trademarks of Sorted Solution LLC. 15.6 Contact.
